UNI is based in the Springwells area of Southwest Detroit, a 1.3 square mile neighborhood bounded by Fort, Dix and Waterman Streets.
Vision
It’s 2033 and Springwells, our neighborhood, is vibrant and powerful. Together and in collaboration with our community partners, UNI has contributed to a neighborhood transformation through quality programming and strategic placemaking. We cultivate a sense of belonging, purpose, and work in true partnership with our community. As an organization we are stable, financially sound, and ready to embrace our future.
The people in our neighborhood; youth, residents, staff and volunteers–are healthy, thriving, and have opportunities to learn, grow, and build strong and loving social networks.
The place we call home is vibrant, safe, and free of blight, with community spaces where residents can access resources for physical activity, respite and connection. By 2033, we are the neighborhood we’ve been dreaming of.
