Phillip Patrick

Creative Placemaking Coordinator
ppatrick@unidetroit.org
Phillip Patrick is a self-taught artist, designer, and muralist who produces meaningful works of public art in his community. Patrick grew up in the Delray neighborhood of Southwest Detroit, an area known for its industrial factory pollution. Phillip’s early upbringing would go on to influence his artwork, which covers a variety of themes, most notably the relationship between humans and nature. This upbringing also fueled his passion for creating public works of art and adding beauty to his community. From an early age, it seemed that Phillip was poised to become a creative force. Phillip became involved in various community art projects, working with different organizations in the Southwest community. He became involved in the Southwest Urban Arts Mural Project (SUAMP) as a youth in the program in 2011. Today Phillip is the program coordinator for SUAMP.
