In case you missed it, Urban Neighborhood Initiatives is celebrating its 25th anniversary! Over the next few months, we will share our story of how we came to be the organization we are, through the stories of former staff, donors, residents, and youth.
For 25 years, we have had many people strive to help the SW Detroit community thrive. Today, we would like to introduce you to Dennis Nordmoe. Dennis was one of the original founders of UNI, first known as the All Saints Neighborhood Center. He worked with many residents and city officials to create a space for the community to come together and provide support in any way shape or form. UNI's ability to connect with residents and community members to understand their wants and needs has been a fundamental factor in our success as an organization.
Some examples of support in our earlier years were providing ESL classes for adults, afterschool programming for youth, and our annual holiday parties.
We are so grateful to be a part of the ever-growing community. Thank you, Dennis!
